Bamboes Bay Sauvignon Blanc - Fryer's Cove
IN BRIEF
📍 Bamboes Bay · 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Fresh, mineral white wine with a marine character
Aged on lees
Why we like it
Few wines tell the story of the sea as well as this Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyards grow just 500 meters from the Atlantic Ocean, and the cool climate of the West Coast yields a crisp, savory wine of extraordinary elegance, an authentic expression of one of South Africa's most unique terroirs.
Wine profile
On the nose, it releases aromas of citrus, passion fruit, and delicate notes of seaweed. On the palate, it is intense and vibrant, with hints of lime, tropical fruit, and a long finish characterized by a marked saline minerality, typical of Bamboes Bay.
The Fryer's Cove Signature
Fryer's Cove is one of the very few wineries located on South Africa's remote West Coast. The production philosophy is based on minimal intervention in the cellar to allow the oceanic climate and the terroir of Bamboes Bay to express themselves with maximum authenticity.

In the vineyard
In the vineyard
The vineyards are located just 500 meters from the Atlantic Ocean, in the Wine of Origin Bamboes Bay, South Africa's smallest recognized wine ward. The vineyards are planted on limestone-rich Hutton soils, while the constant influence of the sea breeze and ocean mist promotes a slow ripening, preserving freshness, acidity, and aromatic intensity.
In the cellar
In the cellar
The grapes are destemmed and gently pressed, using only the free-run juice. After cold decantation, the must ferments for about a week. The wine then remains on its fine lees (sur lie), increasing complexity and softness without losing its natural freshness. Winemaking follows a philosophy of minimal intervention to enhance the identity of the territory.
