Boschendal Wine Estate: Three Centuries of Excellence in Franschhoek
Cape Best is the official importer for Italy of Boschendal, one of the oldest and most prestigious wine estates in the world. Founded in 1685 by the Huguenot Jean le Long, Boschendal is the historical heart of the Franschhoek Valley, a place where French elegance merges with the power of the South African terroir.
Regenerative Agriculture and UNESCO Heritage
Nestled in the Cape Floral Kingdom (UNESCO World Heritage Site), Boschendal is not limited to viticulture but leads the regenerative agriculture movement in South Africa.
- WWF Conservation Champion: for five consecutive years, the winery has been awarded for its commitment to biodiversity conservation.
- Integrated ecosystem: vineyards coexist with free-range Black Angus cattle farming and beekeeping, practices that naturally regenerate soil health without the use of chemical pesticides.
The Art of Specialisation: Three Teams, One Goal
Unlike many other realities, Boschendal entrusts production to three independent oenologist teams, each focused on a specific excellence:
- Authorial Whites and Reds: with a particular focus on Chardonnay and Shiraz, the estate's gems.
- Masters of Cap Classique: Boschendal was the second winery in South African history (after the pioneer Simonsig) to produce classic method sparkling wine (since 1981). Today, the team dedicated to the Cap Classique Method produces some of the most awarded bubbles on the continent.
The 1685 Collection: The Soul of the Winery
The 1685 collection, available through Cape Best, is the ultimate tribute to the estate's roots. Each bottle is a faithful reproduction of the original 17th-century design, created to enclose wines that balance extraordinary fruit purity with a complex structure, suitable for long aging.
