IN SHORT

📍 Cape South Coast · Sauvignon Blanc 98%, Sémillon 2%
Fresh and mineral style Sauvignon Blanc
Aged on fine lees with bâtonnage

Why we like it

It's a Sauvignon Blanc that focuses on balance. It combines the typical freshness of the varietal with pleasant softness and greater depth, thanks to a small percentage of Sémillon and aging on fine lees. The result is an elegant, gastronomic, and very versatile white wine, capable of satisfying both those who love more citrusy Sauvignons and those who prefer more structured ones.

Wine profile

The bouquet is intense and fragrant, with notes of lime, grapefruit, passion fruit, and tropical fruit, accompanied by a delicate herbaceous nuance. On the palate, it is fresh and dynamic, yet soft and enveloping. The lively acidity supports a sip rich in citrus and exotic fruit, while the finish is distinguished by a pleasant mineral imprint and a long persistence. It's perfect to drink now, but can evolve positively for another 2-5 years.

The Boschendal Signature

Boschendal aims for a style that prioritizes elegance and precision rather than just aromaticity. The grapes come exclusively from cool vineyards, located at altitude or near the ocean, where sea breezes preserve acidity and aromas. In the cellar, vinification takes place in a reductive environment to protect varietal aromas, while aging on fine lees adds volume and complexity. The final addition of a small proportion of Sémillon completes the wine with a softer and more harmonious texture.

Food pairing

Perfect with oysters, crustaceans, sushi, grilled fish, seafood carpaccios, summer salads, fresh cheeses, and delicately spiced Asian cuisine.

Service

Serve at 8-10°C in a medium-sized white wine glass.

Origin

Wine of Origin Cape Coast, South Africa.

In the vineyard

The grapes come from selected vineyards in the Cape South Coast, located between 150 and 400 meters above sea level or at a short distance from the ocean. Sea breezes promote a slow ripening process that preserves freshness, varietal aromas, and natural acidity. The decomposed granite and shale soils, rich in water retention capacity, contribute to giving the wine greater structure and a pleasant mineral sensation.

In the cellar

Vinification takes place using a reductive technique, minimizing contact with oxygen to preserve the aromatic integrity of the Sauvignon Blanc. Fermentation occurs at a low temperature (14-16°C) and the wine then remains on its fine lees with weekly bâtonnage during the first month. A small percentage of Sémillon is finally added to the blend to impart greater roundness and balance without compromising the wine's vibrant freshness.
