The Work
From below, skyscrapers lose their function and become mere marks. The clear sky isolates them, transforming them into silhouettes — and the black and white brings them closer to charcoal than one would expect from a photograph. This is the intended deception: an image that hesitates between documenting and interpreting, between the camera and the artist's hand. Looking at it, it's not clear where reality ends and the gesture begins.
The Frame
The frame is made from reclaimed antique wood from Cape Town, selected for its history and natural irregularities. This particular piece features a light grey finish with traces of white and light wood beneath the paint, and a visible wood grain texture. The result is a work that belongs to the Industrial style: raw, urban, without aesthetic compromises.
