The artwork
There's something suspended in that gaze from above. Two figures in dark suits, from the 1950s, peer out over the void of a city parading beneath them — a parade, perhaps, or simply the world moving on without asking permission. The photograph doesn't tell the event: it tells who is watching it. And in that space between the gaze and the street, there's all the distance one sometimes places between oneself and things to understand them better.
The frame
The frame is made from reclaimed antique wood sourced from Cape Town, selected for its history and natural irregularities. This piece features an antique white finish with a light blue wood insert and natural light wood, a distressed texture with areas of abraded paint and small through-holes. The result is an object that belongs to the Industrial style: raw, urban, without aesthetic compromises.
