Homestead Pinotage - Bellingham

Varietal: Pinotage 100%.

Homestead Pinotage by Bellingham has an intense dark red with a ruby ​​red edge. On the nose sweet spices, plums and mulberries with hints of vanilla. Hints of ripe and juicy raspberry, strawberry and black cherry as well as spices well integrated on the palate with an elegant tannic structure.

Pair with: Ideal with roast lamb with rosemary and elderberries, venison, ribs with barbecue sauce, ossobuco. Serving temperature: 15° - 18° C

In the vineyard

The mountainous terrain and diversity of terroirs are key factors that make this a world-class viticultural area with granite soil.
The vineyards are located at altitudes above 200m and thus exposed to the cool summer breezes of False Bay.

In the cellar

The grapes were harvested by hand in February. To extract optimal color and flavor, the juice underwent gentle but frequent punching down and pumping over. This process was followed by light pressing before malolactic fermentation and aging in French oak.
