Homestead Shiraz - Bellingham
IN SHORT
📍 Paarl · Shiraz 100%
12 months in French oak
Rich, spicy and elegant
Why we like it
It is a Shiraz that best expresses the warm, Mediterranean character of Paarl. Intense yet balanced, it combines ripe fruit, spice and softness in an accessible style full of personality.
Wine profile
The bouquet offers intense aromas of ripe plum, blackcurrant, black pepper, dark chocolate and sweet spices. On the palate it is full and velvety, with notes of blackberry, violet and black pepper, supported by soft, well-integrated tannins. The finish is long, spicy and harmonious.
The Bellingham signature
The Homestead line pays homage to the historic Franschhoek estate where some of Bernard and Freda Podlashuk's most innovative ideas originated. The grapes are hand-picked and vinified with slow fermentation on the skins, followed by 12 months of aging in French oak to achieve a perfect balance of fruit intensity, elegance and complexity.
Food pairing
Perfect with grilled beef fillet, slow-cooked brisket, roast lamb, game, barbecue and aged cheeses.
Service
Serve at 16-18°C in a large glass. It is recommended to decant for about 30-60 minutes.

Wine of Origin Paarl, South Africa.
In the vineyard
In the vineyard
The grapes come from the northern and western slopes of the Paarl region, where decomposed granite soils and a warm, Mediterranean-influenced climate provide ideal conditions for growing Shiraz. The long ripening season encourages the development of intense aromas, while maintaining balance and freshness.
In the cellar
In the cellar
Grapes are harvested by hand in early March and undergo slow fermentation on the skins with gentle pump-overs to extract color, aromas, and structure. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for 12 months in French oak, gaining complexity, softness, and elegance without masking the fruit's character.
