The Pinotage is a vine originating from South Africa, born in 1925 from a singular cross between Pinot Noir and Hermitage (or Cinsaut). The father of Pinotage was Abraham Izak Perold, a university professor and winemaker who sought the best resistance to the dry summers of the Western Cape region in South Africa.

In the glass, the color of Kadette Cape Blend is ruby red. The nose has an intense perfume of Red currantcherries, spices and a touch of mugto. On the palate the wine is fresh and lively, perfectly integrated with the wood, and has a pleasant and persistent raspberry flavor.

Pairings at the table: Excellent as a summer wine to accompany seafood, or served with pizza, dishes of pasta, roasts, chicken e grilled meat.

In the vineyard

Kadette Cape Blend of 2018 is the product of a dry season, with warm days and very cool nights, which favored the perfect ripening of the grapes. Vines from 5 to 30 years. Modest additional watering. Average production 7 tons / ha.

In the cellar

After harvesting in the early hours of the morning, the must is left to macerate on the skins for 3-5 days, in open concrete tanks at a temperature of about 28 °. Then Kadette Cape Blend ferments for 12 months in French Nevers oak barrels of 225 liters of second and third use. Further refinement in the bottle follows before release.
