Kadette Pinotage - Kanonkop

IN SHORT

📍 Stellenbosch · Pinotage 100%
Fruity, intense, and authentically South African red
Aged 12 months in Nevers French oak

Why we like it

It's the perfect Pinotage to discover South Africa's iconic grape variety. It retains all the personality and character of the Kanonkop style, but with a more immediate, smooth, and versatile approach, ideal for both enthusiasts and those new to Pinotage.

Wine profile

The bouquet releases cherry, red and black plum, strawberry, vanilla, cinnamon, and sweet spices. On the palate, it is juicy and harmonious, with notes of raspberry, cranberry, milk chocolate, and cedar. Fine tannins and well-balanced acidity accompany a long and pleasantly spicy finish.

The Kanonkop signature

Produced under the guidance of Abrie Beeslaar, Kadette Pinotage comes from selected Stellenbosch vineyards and represents an authentic introduction to the Kanonkop style: an elegant, balanced, and deeply connected Pinotage to its terroir.

Serving suggestions

Perfect with pizza, pasta, grilled meats, hamburgers, game stews, and Thai cuisine.

Origin

Wine of Origin Stellenbosch, South Africa.

In the vineyard

The grapes come from Stellenbosch vineyards with an age ranging between 8 and 23 years, grown on decomposed granite and Hutton soils. The vines benefit from supplementary irrigation and produce yields of approximately 6-7 tons per hectare, fostering a perfect balance between aromatic concentration and freshness.

In the cellar

Fermentation occurred in open concrete tanks at 28°C, with mechanical punch-downs every two hours during fermentation. After three days of maceration and malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged for 12 months in 225-litre second and third-fill Nevers French oak barriques, preserving the purity of the fruit and the typical elegance of the Kanonkop style.
