Kadette Pinotage Rosé 2023 - Kanonkop

AT A GLANCE

📍 Coastal Region · Pinotage 100%
Dry, fresh and fruity rosé
Aged on lees for 3 months

Why we like it

This rosé expresses the most delicate side of Pinotage. Fresh, elegant and versatile, it retains the fruity character of the grape without compromising on balance and drinkability.

Wine profile

Pale pink in colour, the nose offers aromas of melon, wild strawberries, raspberries and a delicate hint of cotton candy. On the palate it is dry, fresh and creamy, with notes of red cherry, melon and small red fruits supported by lively acidity.

Kanonkop's signature

Produced under the guidance of Abrie Beeslaar, this rosé is made from 100% Pinotage and demonstrates the versatility of South Africa's iconic grape in a fresh, refined and perfect-for-any-occasion version.

Food pairing

Ideal as an aperitif, with sushi, salmon, grilled tuna, prawns, salads, quiche and roast chicken.

Service

Serve well chilled, at 8-10°C.

Origin

Wine of Origin Coastal Region, South Africa.

In the vineyard

The grapes come from the Coastal Region, from Pinotage vineyards aged between 5 and 15 years, cultivated on decomposed granite and Hutton soils. The vines benefit from supplementary irrigation and produce yields of approximately 8 tons per hectare, fostering a perfect balance between freshness and aromatic intensity.

In the cellar

The grapes were immediately crushed and pressed to limit color extraction and preserve aromatic finesse. Fermentation took place at a low temperature (13°C) until completion, followed by three months of aging on the lees before bottling, which adds creaminess and complexity.
