Simonsig was the first wine estate to produce Gewürztraminer in South Africa.
A vine planted for the first time in 1973, Simonsig has built a very successful track record. A notoriously difficult variety to grow with its small bunches and extremely low yield explains why there are only 122 hectares in South Africa.
This Gewürztraminer shows a brilliant golden straw color. Attractive notes of lokum and rose petals. Succulent notes of lychee and pear conquer the palate.
The harmony between acidity and the fruit elements creates a synergy of persistent fruit aromas on the palate.
Pair with: Ideal as an aperitif, it perfectly accompanies Indian curry and spicy dishes. Also try with smoked cheeses. Alcohol content: 13.5%
Wine of Origin South Africa.
Abundant rainfall during the final months of 2019 led to better water availability for the vineyards. The budding of the vines was early; however, the wind conditions during flowering and the rain during the month of December required meticulous management of the vineyard. Subsequently, moderate temperatures and dry weather led to an excellent season for white wines. The production was above average with healthy grapes of excellent quality. An intense season with great potential, which required concentration and skill from the Simonsig team.
